Description
Stillness is built on a single vertical breath: a deep, saturated cobalt on one side, a luminous wash of pale blue on the other, meeting along a calm seam of white. A slender white line traces an open rectangle through the centre, while fine dark strokes gather like the surface of water with no wind to disturb it. Nothing rushes here. The painting simply holds its breath.
True to its title — Νηνεμία, the sailor’s word for a dead calm — it is one of the most meditative works in The Geometry of Blue, where the series’ restless energy finally settles into quiet.
